This collage was based on a prior custom doll project, which you can see here: [link]
I was inspired to make a collage of the faun, Lilyian (who you can see in more detail at the above link), sitting in her shop with her kitsune assistant, Katrina (who, as of writing this, is a WIP).
The piece uses many of the materials used on the dolls themselves, including yarns, fabrics, and beads.
The project started with a sketch, which I then used to make paper cut-outs of many of the objects in the scene.
These cut-outs were painted, then glued down on the base canvas, which was painted with many of the background elements. Then other 3D elements were added, like yarn for hair and strips of high density cardboard. Fabric elements were sewn on for a better connection.
